American Goulash
Ingredients
- 2 lb Ground Beef
- 1 lb Elbow Macaroni 4 cups dry pasta = 8 cups cooked pasta
- 2 Tomato Sauce 15 oz cans
- 2 Diced Tomatoes 14.5 oz cans
- 1 White Onion Chopped
- 3 Garlic Cloves, minced
- ¼ Cup Water
- 2 tsp Dried Oregano
- 2 tsp Dried Basil
- 1 Bay Leaf
- Salt To taste
- Black Pepper To taste
- ½ Cup Heavy Cream Optional
Instructions
- 1Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 2In a large pot or skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat until browned, using your spoon to break it down to smaller pieces.
- 3Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, 5 to 6 minutes. Drain off excess fat.
- 4Pour in pasta, water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, bay leaf, oregano, and basil, and stir together.
- 5Lower heat and let simmer for 6-8 minutes until pasta is al dente and sauce has reduced.
- 6Remove bay leaf and add heavy cream (optional). Serve.
