American Goulash

Ingredients

  • 2 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 lb Elbow Macaroni 4 cups dry pasta = 8 cups cooked pasta
  • 2 Tomato Sauce 15 oz cans
  • 2 Diced Tomatoes 14.5 oz cans
  • 1 White Onion Chopped
  • 3 Garlic Cloves, minced
  • ¼ Cup Water
  • 2 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 2 tsp Dried Basil
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • Salt To taste
  • Black Pepper To taste
  • ½ Cup Heavy Cream Optional

Instructions

  1. 1Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. 2In a large pot or skillet, cook beef over medium-high heat until browned, using your spoon to break it down to smaller pieces.
  3. 3Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, 5 to 6 minutes. Drain off excess fat.
  4. 4Pour in pasta, water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, bay leaf, oregano, and basil, and stir together.
  5. 5Lower heat and let simmer for 6-8 minutes until pasta is al dente and sauce has reduced.
  6. 6Remove bay leaf and add heavy cream (optional). Serve.
