Grandma's Old Fashioned Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 4 Cup White Bread cubed (8 slices)
  • ½ Cup Raisins
  • 2 Cup Milk
  • ¼ Cup Butter
  • ½ Cup Sugar
  • 2 Eggs slightly beaten
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla
  • Bourbon Sauce

    • 1 Cup Brown Sugar packed
    • ½ Cup Butter not margarine
    • 2 tbsp Whipping Cream
    • 3 tbsp Bourbon or 2 tsp brandy extract
    • ½ tsp Cinnamon optional

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. 2Combine bread and raisins in bowl.
  3. 3Combine milk and ¼ cup butter in 1 quart sauce pan.
  4. 4Cook over medium heat until butter is melted (4-7 minutes).
  5. 5Pour milk mixture over bread; let stand 10 minutes.
  6. 6Stir in all remaining pudding ingredients.
  7. 7Pour into a greased 1½ quart casserole dish.
  8. 8Bake for 40-50 minutes or until set in center.
  9. 9For the Bourbon Sauce: Combine all sauce ingredients in a quart saucepan.
  10. 10Cook over medium heat stirring occasionally until mixture thickens and comes to a full boil (5-8 minutes).
  11. 11To Serve: Spoon warm pudding into individual dessert dishes. Serve with sauce. Store refrigerated.
