Grandma's Old Fashioned Bread Pudding
Ingredients
- 4 Cup White Bread cubed (8 slices)
- ½ Cup Raisins
- 2 Cup Milk
- ¼ Cup Butter
- ½ Cup Sugar
- 2 Eggs slightly beaten
- 1 tbsp Vanilla
Bourbon Sauce
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar packed
- ½ Cup Butter not margarine
- 2 tbsp Whipping Cream
- 3 tbsp Bourbon or 2 tsp brandy extract
- ½ tsp Cinnamon optional
Instructions
- 1Preheat oven to 350°.
- 2Combine bread and raisins in bowl.
- 3Combine milk and ¼ cup butter in 1 quart sauce pan.
- 4Cook over medium heat until butter is melted (4-7 minutes).
- 5Pour milk mixture over bread; let stand 10 minutes.
- 6Stir in all remaining pudding ingredients.
- 7Pour into a greased 1½ quart casserole dish.
- 8Bake for 40-50 minutes or until set in center.
- 9For the Bourbon Sauce: Combine all sauce ingredients in a quart saucepan.
- 10Cook over medium heat stirring occasionally until mixture thickens and comes to a full boil (5-8 minutes).
- 11To Serve: Spoon warm pudding into individual dessert dishes. Serve with sauce. Store refrigerated.
